The Couple
Couple’s story – LaToya:
I am a big Disney fan. In all the Disney fairytales, the women find Prince Charming and live happily ever after. My Prince Charming came along when I least expected it to happen.
One day at work, my co-worker Janet told me she thought I should meet her brother. We’d talked about him before, and from what I’d heard, he seemed like a nice guy. One of the things she kept saying was that it wasn’t a hook up.
A few weeks later, Wayne came to The Free Press office to visit Janet. That was the first time I met him. I thought he was cute, but it wasn’t until our next meeting that I knew for sure that I needed to get to know him better.
Janet and I, and some more girls from The Free Press were supposed to go to Raleigh for a shopping trip. Sometime during that trip, we were supposed to stop by Wayne’s house. Well, the other girls couldn’t go. It ended up being me, Janet and Wayne at the mall. I didn’t do much shopping that day. I spent the whole day falling for this great guy who will soon be my husband.
Wayne is the kind of man I prayed for, someone who loves the Lord and believes in family values. At the end of that shopping day, he prayed with me and I knew my prayers were being answered.
The road hasn’t been completely smooth, but the rough times make me appreciate the happiness I feel now. All I can say is thank you God and thank you Janet for the hook up that wasn’t really a hook up. |

Couple’s story – Wayne:
All I can say is “Trust God”, in a time where marriage is being attacked, pimps and players are idolized and Hollywood marriages last for only 2 weeks, finding that special woman who God had for me has been worth the wait! I was told about LaToya from my sister and I too, one who doesn't like hook ups, was somewhat optimistic about the situation but I haven’t been to my sisters job and this was another reason for me to go, little did I know that by that one visit it would change me for the rest of my life. After the initial meet and greet, and a visit a couple weeks later from my sister and my future wife, reality set in, LaToya was to be my Queen. Her smile, and her loving personality was amazing and most of all she Loved the Lord. After a couple of months of getting to know each other I realized what type of woman LaToya is, the woman who I had prayed for and more! Somewhat knocked off of my feet by her and seeing what direction we were headed in I had to seek God for advice and thank Him for His blessings. Since then LaToya and I have been on a journey of Love, faith and trust, Praise God and thanks to all for the prayers, advice and support.
